The Arch Tech Company
UNSense is the new arch tech company that designs solutions and develops technology for buildings and cities. Its goal is to make the built environment more healthy, safe, human-centric and sustainable for the people that visit, live and work in them.
Rooted in and built upon almost 30 years of architectural experience of UNStudio, UNSense is expanding the architectural practice towards the world of technological innovation in the fields of experience design, smart technologies, data analysis and sensorial adaptive design.
We advise local Dutch municipalities (Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Hilversum) as well as cities across the globe (Bangalore, Milan, Osaka) on the development and implementation of smart technologies into buildings and the urban environment.
UNSense is supported by a vast cross-sectoral network – including architects, urban designers, tech experts, data analysts, algorithmists, researchers, social scientists, and even philosophers and futurists. We embrace a multi-disciplinary approach that involves all stakeholders from city governments, private developers, real estate companies, as well as citizens – to create site specific and future-proof visions and strategies.
To realise our long term vision, we develop products to enrich traditional architecture. With innovative technology we create and develop sensorial experiences that positively impact the physical, mental and social wellbeing of the inhabitants of buildings or urban areas. In close partnership with other innovation companies, we ideate and incubate concepts to products, new companies and eventually scale-ups. Our team consists of both creative, organisational and financial experts to maximise successful development of the new products.
UNSense is based in the Freedom Lab Campus, a crossover innovation hub in Amsterdam.

Our approach is research and data driven social impact and this is reflected in our team. What binds us is a strong vision of the future of the built environment and a determination to make that future happen.
