Empathic environments

People spend close to 82% of their time indoors. Technology enables us to personalise the spaces we live and work in. Improving the quality and experience of indoor spaces means improving people’s health and wellbeing.

Together with UNStudio’s interior designers, UNSense is working towards the concept of ‘empathic environments’. By combining a sensitive approach to design with sensory hardware and responsive software we aim to create buildings and rooms that understand and adapt to the user’s needs.

Tracking and analysing user behaviour enables us to improve existing buildings and recognise patterns that lay the foundations for the personalisation of living and working environments. The result is a high quality, attractive and sustainable, healthy places to live and work that are continuously upgradable and updatable.

Last year we explored how the method and technology of RESET can be applied within daily life situations. For this, UNSense was granted a ROVO (‘Vroege Fase Financiering’) subsidy, which allows the parties involved to build a prototype.
