UNSense’s Sensorial Experience Designer Tessa Steenkamp has received the ‘Best Young Talent’ award from the Wiechert Foundation in Amsterdam.

The Wiechert Foundation aims to stimulate and cultivate entrepreneurial creatives in the realm of real estate, project development and architecture.

The foundation praised Tessa’s achievements in the research and development of Smart Societies over recent years. According to the jury report, Tessa has proved to be a frontrunner – a constructive as well as a critical voice – in the rapidly evolving smart cities industry. Over the last few years, Tessa has worked for different public and private organisations, including the government of the city of Amsterdam, investigating and exploring the opportunities and challenges of smart technology implementation in cities, and the impact these have on people’s daily lives and society as a whole.

With the award, Tessa will be given a podium to share her insights and expertise with the larger real estate audience, along with prize money.

‘At UNSense, Tessa operates on the front line of smart societies’, according to the Wiechert Foundation. ‘Moreover, she is actively involved in the Urban Think Tank – an interdisciplinary organisation that focusses on architectural and urban design – and is a jury member and a frequent speaker and participant in panel discussions. Last year she performed at the “Hacking the city” event. In this role she stands out for her critical yet constructive mentality. The combination of these factors makes her Young Talent of 2020.’
